Easter Egg Hunt from 10:00am to 12:00pm

The Patrick Henry National Memorial invites you and your children to join them on the beautiful grounds of Patrick Henry's Red Hill to participate in the annual Easter egg hunt. This event is for the entire community. Children ages 0-12 years can search for eggs and collect lots of goodies. Bring your camera so you can take pictures. The Easter story will be told every 30 minutes by members of local church members and volunteers. There will be costumed docents outside of the Henry home to provide information about the plantation buildings. This year there are stations for the different age groups to create and make your own Easter Bunny Ears! This event is free of charge and is sponsored by Red Hill and Brookneal Baptist Church. Naturalization Ceremony

The Patrick Henry National Memorial will host its annual Naturalization Ceremony on Friday, May 6, 2016 at 11 a.m. on the beautiful grounds of Red Hill, Henry’s last home and burial place. The Oath ceremony will begin at 11:00a.m. and last until 1:00p.m. Prior to the oath ceremony, docents will be available in Patrick Henry’s house and law office to provide information about Henry’s life at Red Hill in the 1790s starting at 9:00 a.m. Eighteenth century interpreters will demonstrate blacksmithing, spinning and weaving, and will be in the historic buildings. Seating begins at 10:30 and visitors are invited to stay following the ceremony for a reception hosted by the Patrick Henry Auxiliary and Brookneal Woman’s Club. The Red Hill Chapter of the DAR will provide breakfast for the citizen applicants and their families. There is no admission fee for this event. Members of the press are requested to call in advance.

The Patrick Henry National Memorial will celebrate Patrick Henry's 280th birthday on Friday, May 29, 2016. Come out to Red Hill and enjoy a piece of complimentary birthday cake while you tour the property.

Independence Day Celebration

– Would you like to experience Independence Day on the same ground as America’s first patriot? Come spend this Fourth of July at the garden spot of the world, Patrick Henry’s Red Hill!
Events begin at 3:00PM with fireworks at dusk and the gate closing at 9:00PM. Admission for the 2016 Independence Day Celebration is $10 per car - up to 5 passengers; $2 for each additional passenger.Bring your lawn chairs or blankets to comfortably watch Patrick Henry give his speech at 7:00 and to watch the fantastic fireworks display at 9:15. You might also want to bring a flashlight to aide you after dark. Please do NOT bring any alcohol, personal fireworks (including sparklers), grills, or pets; for safety reasons, all these are prohibited. There will be no re-entry after 5:00PM! Patrick Henry’s Red Hill, America’s first patriot’s home and burial site is the perfect place to celebrate being an American! Step back in time with us and help us celebrate Independence Day this July 4th!

Living History Days for Homeschool Students 

Advance Registration Required for this Event

Join us for our Annual Days of Living History for Homeschooled Students. Geared for children ages 8 to 10 years old, although children younger and older benefit from the hands-on experience of 18th century life.

Programs will be from among spinning and weaving, basket making, blacksmithing, rope making, butter making, pottery. Groups may register by providing the number and ages of children, as well as the number of adults in attendance.

Fifth Annual Bluegrass, Barbecue & Brew Festival

Join us Saturday, November 5, 2016 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. for our Sixth Annual Bluegrass, Barbecue & Brew Festival at Patrick Henry's Red Hill.

The Bluegrass, Barbecue & Brew Festival is all about embracing the flavors and sounds of Southern Virginia at the home of Virginia' Passionate Patriot & Fiery Fiddler!

This festival combines a LOVE of history with a LOVE of music, barbecue and Virginia craft beer! The Bluegrass, Barbecue & Brew Fesitval brings together the lifestyle of yester year with modern leisurely activities. Our intention is for the people to fall in love with Southern Virginia and all of the history, culture, food, beer and music it has to offer.

Stroll the beautiful grounds of Red Hill while enjoying the live music. Delicious local barbecue will be available from local restaurants and shop with artisan and craft vendors! Self-guided tours of Patrick Henry’s home, law office and other historical buildings will be offered throughout the day and is included in your ticket! Also guests are encouraged to bring a personal lawn chair or blanket for seating to watch the bands!

Christmas Open House

The annual Christmas Open House at Red Hill will be held on Sunday, December 6, 2015 from 2 to 4 p.m. The Patrick Henry Auxiliary sponsors this event and cordially invites the public to attend; admission is complimentary.

Guests will be treated to docent-guided tours of the historic buildings at Red Hill, including Patrick Henry’s house, Law Office, and other buildings, all decorated for the holiday by the Red Hill Garden Club. Complimentary hot mulled cider, Brunswick stew prepared by the Charlotte Lions Club and cookies will be available throughout the afternoon. The gift shop will be offering a 10% discount on its regular shop merchandise on this special day. The Museum Shop has many items that are perfect for gift-giving, including the award-winning Red Hill Wine collection.

The annual sale of boxwood wreaths and boxwood kissing balls, with proceeds benefiting the Patrick Henry Auxiliary, will begin in mid-November. Reserved wreaths and kissing balls will be available around the end of November 30th and at the Christmas Open House as supplies last. These wreaths cost only $30 each and kissing balls $10 each and both are handmade using locally grown boxwood.
